McVay Family!

Okay so last year I told you all about my assistant Jennifer.  I talked about how spectacular she is and how I owe a lot of those cute little smiles to her!  This year has been a pretty busy year for KDP and that is awesome considering I haven't done the advertising and mini sessions that I do in a normal year.  (Due to the fact that I am pregnant with a little boy.... eeekkk!)  Well, Jennifer works an everyday job and then always makes the time to help me in her off hours and for that I am incredibly grateful!  I still am not able to pay her what she deserves, but one day I will be there!  I try to re-pay some of my debt with pictures of her family.  For this years pictures we went to the grungy alleys of downtown Kansas City.  I love these even more than last years pictures!
Especially this one of her son Owen!

One thing about Jen... she doesn't just assist with making the kids smile.  She also helps with posing people, carrying things, fixing hair, etc.  I try to make my customers feel relaxed and have fun on their sessions.  She helps out a lot with that, because while I am concentrating on my camera, props, lighting, locations, poses, etc... she is available to fill the void on the chit chatting.  People just plain like her!  LOL  So every once in awhile I have to take her out from behind the scenes and give her the credit she deserves.  You know you have a keeper when she is willing to go to strange houses with you and ask if you can use their yard for shoots! LOL

She says it is very difficult during her sessions because she has to be in front of the camera instead of seeing it from my point of view.  I think Owen did pretty good with the smiles considering I didn't have an assistant on this one!
